Boston projects generate immediate hiring needs
City records list the six projects as conversions that replace office space with housing, directly supporting the 689 construction positions. Those roles cover trades from framing to electrical work on sites already moving through permitting.
The same approvals add retail and service space that will require managers, leasing agents and maintenance staff once units open. Local workforce programs have begun matching candidates to the construction pipeline.
Manhattan and Los Angeles deals add longer-term roles
A mystery buyer closed on three Canal Street buildings at 99-105, 95-97 and 91 Canal Street for $21.14 million under the 99-91 Canal Project entity, a transaction recorded in April 2026. The purchase signals renewed investor interest that typically precedes tenant fit-outs and property-management hiring.
In Los Angeles, TRJLA filed plans for an eight-story project on a Hill Street parking lot that includes 411 apartments and 17,000 square feet of retail. Separately, construction started on the 501 Essense development with 455 apartments and 9,000 square feet of commercial space. Both projects will need leasing teams and operations staff ahead of the 2028 Olympics opening.
Developers in Port Moresby also broke ground on a K1.8 billion mixed-use site that includes a 90,000-square-meter mall and 30-storey hotel, illustrating how similar capital inflows create parallel demand for retail and hospitality workers across Chinatowns.
City agencies and developers have not announced further hiring timelines. Interested candidates should monitor planning-department postings and local contractor bid notices for the next round of contract awards.
