Jurong East Town Council 2026 Neighbourhood Improvement Programme Directs Funds to Central Blocks 201-215
Households in Blocks 201 to 215 will receive lift modernisations and void deck renovations from August while western estates such as Blocks 301 to 320 remain on the waiting list until the next funding cycle.

The Jurong East Town Council approved its 2026 Neighbourhood Improvement Programme on 2 July, directing S$8.2 million from the town council's maintenance fund to Blocks 201-215. The works cover lift replacements, new seating in void decks and additional CCTV units. Residents outside these blocks receive no allocation in the current round.
Why the programme is being rolled out now
The 2026 budget paper states that the council must spend accumulated sinking fund reserves before the next national HDB review in 2027. Central blocks were selected because they recorded the highest number of lift faults in 2025, at 47 incidents per block compared with 19 in outer estates. The legislation requires the council to publish the priority list by the end of July each year.
Households in the selected blocks will gain step-free access to all floors once the six lifts are replaced. Families in Blocks 301-320, however, will continue using the existing lifts until at least 2028. Commuters who rely on the western side of Jurong East MRT station will see no change to nearby void deck lighting or seating during the first phase.
Next steps for implementation
Contractors are expected to begin site surveys on 15 August. The council has scheduled two resident briefings at the Jurong East Community Club on 20 and 27 July to explain the works schedule. Any remaining funds after the central blocks are completed will be carried forward, according to the published budget rules, but the council has not set a date for the next allocation round.
