Cycling routes safe for families and beginners open in Jurong East parks
New marked paths at local green spaces give parents and new riders clear options away from busy roads.
How we reported this

Jurong Lake Gardens opened two new family cycling loops on 1 July 2026 that keep riders on dedicated paths separated from vehicle traffic.
Parents have asked for more beginner-friendly routes as outdoor activity numbers rise after the National Parks Board reported a 22 percent increase in park visits across western Singapore between January and May this year.
Routes through Jurong Lake Gardens and nearby spots
The shorter loop starts at the entrance near Jurong East MRT station and runs 1.8 kilometres along the western edge of the lake before returning past the playground at the Chinese Garden end. A second 3.2-kilometre circuit follows the existing boardwalk past the Jurong East Community Club and links to a flat path beside Boon Lay Way that the town council resurfaced in March. Both routes use bright green lane markings and speed-limit signs set at 10 kilometres per hour.
ActiveSG runs free helmet-fitting sessions every Saturday morning at the Jurong East Sports Complex, and the nearby bike kiosk at Jurong Lake Gardens charges $6 for a two-hour rental of adult or child bikes with training wheels available on request.
Practical steps before heading out
Riders can download the updated trail map from the town council website that shows the exact locations of drinking fountains and shaded rest points. Families are advised to start early, before 9 am, to avoid peak heat and to carry at least one litre of water per person. The paths remain open daily from 6 am to 10 pm, with lighting installed along the shorter loop since last December.
Residents who want to try the routes can also join the monthly beginner ride organised by the Jurong East Community Club on the second Sunday of each month, with the next session set for 12 July.
